Classical architecture

Classical architecture usually denotes architecture which is more or less consciously derived from the principles of Greek and Roman architecture of classical antiquity, or sometimes even more specifically, from the works of Vitruvius. Different styles of classical architecture have arguably existed since the Carolingian Renaissance, and prominently since the Italian Renaissance. Although classical styles of architecture can vary greatly, they can in general all be said to draw on a common "vocabulary" of decorative and constructive elements. In much of the Western world, different classical architectural styles have dominated the history of architecture from the Renaissance until the second world war, though it continues to inform many architects to this day.

The term "classical architecture" also applies to any mode of architecture that has evolved to a highly refined state, such as classical Chinese architecture, or classical Mayan architecture. It can also refer to any architecture that employs classical aesthetic philosophy. The term might be used differently from "traditional" or "vernacular architecture", although it can share underlying axioms with it.

Classical (album)

Classical is an album by the guitarist Wolf Hoffmann. It begins with a rendition from Georges Bizet's Carmen, Suite #1 playing the famous Fate Theme from Carmen's opera. Next is a version of Edvard Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King." Track #4 is "Arabian Dance" by Peter I. Tchaikovsky. Ravel's "Bolero" becomes a bluesy piece. The CD's final track is a version of Edward Elgar's "Pomp & Circumstance "

CFMX-FM

CFMX-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts classical music at 103.1 FM in Cobourg, Ontario and serving the Peterborough area. The station is branded as Classical 103.1. It is a semi-satellite of Toronto's CFMZ, repeating most of that station's programming as well as airing some local programming.

The station was launched in 1979 by D. B. Williamson, the owner of Cobourg's CHUC. The station was plagued with financial and technical problems in its early years, and in 1981 its license was briefly suspended by the CRTC. Williamson's company went into receivership in 1983, and the station was acquired by businessman Martin Rosenthal.

In 1988, the station added a transmitter in Mississauga on 96.3 FM, which was moved to Toronto in 1993. The station's operations eventually became centralized in Toronto by 1997, with a small sales office remaining in Cobourg. For all intents and purposes, the Toronto rebroadcaster was now the primary station.

In September 2006, Canadian broadcaster Moses Znaimer purchased the station, changing the call sign to CFMZ to reflect his initials. Toronto's CKFM briefly attempted to change its call sign to CFMX (reflecting its branding as "Mix 99.9") after Znaimer adopted the CFMZ call sign, but was forced to revert to CKFM because the Toronto transmitter had kept its original CFMX-FM-1 call sign.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (German: [ˈvɔlfɡaŋ amaˈdeːʊs ˈmoːtsaʁt], English see fn.; 27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791), baptised as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era. Born in Salzburg, Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty.

At 17, Mozart was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court, but grew restless and traveled in search of a better position. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his death. The circumstances of his early death have been much mythologized. He was survived by his wife Constanze and two sons.

Mozart Santos Batista Júnior

Mozart Santos Batista Júnior, usually known simply as Mozart (born 8 November 1979 in Curitiba, Brazil) is a former professional association football player. He played in both the defensive midfielder and attacking midfielder positions.

Club career

Mozart started his career with Paraná Clube, before moving to France with FC Girondins de Bordeaux in 1998, although he did not play any games for them. He returned to play in Brazil for Coritiba and Flamengo, and then moved to Serie A's Reggina Calcio in 2000.

He later played for Spartak Moscow, in the Russian Premier League. He terminated his contract with Spartak in March 2009, and the following month he signed for Palmeiras. Mozart's time at Palmeiras ended in August 2009 when he joined Serie A side Livorno.

International career

Mozart was in the Brazil squad for the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Coaching career

In June 2014 Mozart marked his return to former club Reggina, being appointed as technical collaborator to new head coach Francesco Cozza, a former teammate of his during his time as a player.

Whom the Gods Love (1936 film)

Whom the Gods Love is a 1936 British biographical film directed by Basil Dean and starring Stephen Haggard, Victoria Hopper and John Loder. The film portrays the life of the Eighteenth Century Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It was also released under the alternative title Mozart.
